With a restaurant already in Central St Giles, Ippudo have just launched a second venue in Canary Wharf bringing a taste of tonkotsu ramen to the city.
The menu will see a reinvention of traditional Japanese dishes such as Tori Kaarage and Crispy Gyoza alongside new dishes including Taki Gyoza and anchovy and salted kelp Hiyayakko. Of course they’ll be signature dishes too in the form of Shiromaru Classic and Akamaru Modern A seasonally changing ramen menu will keep things fresh and means that can keep going back without eating the same thing and we know how much everyone loves ramen (and Raymond come to that) because across their 120 restaurants they serve 50,000 bowls of ramen every.single.day.
Naturally they’ll be cocktails and a wine list but joining this there will also be sake served both by the bottle and the glass with some notable ones included such as Otokoyama Junmai and Azure Ginjo.
The 65 cover restaurant which can be found in the new Crossrail development is relaxed and casual and features both an open kitchen, hanging lights and walls adorned with porcelain white ramen bowls and spoons – it’s said to be very east meets west according to designers Mya Planning and Stiff + Trevillion.
