There’s an ‘r’ in the month so it’s perfect timing for Marco Pierre White to open Wheeler’s Rib Room & Oyster Bar within the Marriott’s Autograph Collection Threadneedles Hotel following a 20 year absence.
The menu, created by MPW and executed by head chef Stephen Smith features traditional classics such as Wheeler’s fish pie alongside a collection of Marco’s favourite dishes including Grilled Dover Sole a la Salamander and Quails Eggs Maintenon. The destination bar will also feature a dedicated oyster bar with a variety of bivalves (posh name for oysters) alongside wines, champagnes and cocktails.
The Wheeler’s brand was originally created in 1856 by Captain Wheeler in Whitstable, Kent and is the oldest fish brand in the world. When it arrived later in London’s Old Compton Street, regulars included Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud and Walt Disney.
This new launch makes up a trio for the Black & White Franchising portfolio which also includes New York Italian and Steakhouse Bar & Grill.
