Maître d Paulo de Tarso has left Bar Boulud and joined forces with restaurateur Nicolas Jouën to launch Margot, an Italian restaurant opening in Covent Garden this month.

Bringing Italian charm and luxury together the restaurant will serve up a curated selection of dishes that reflect the different regions of Italy. With The Hassler in Rome and Stefano Cavallini at The Halkin, two of the world’s most prestigious Italian Kitchens, on his CV the kitchen will be headed up by Maurizio Morelli who is also a bit of a connoisseur when it comes to pasta making. Dishes will include the likes of risotto ‘alla Milanese’ with saffron and roast bone marrow and taglionlini with crab meat and purple aubergine as well as cured meats, carpaccio, tartare dishes, salads and fish dishes. You’ll also be able to choose the portion size too, giving your more flexibility, so you can still eat the pasta – which comes just as the government announces restaurants will be named and shamed for not cutting down on portion sizes and sugar.

Designed by Fabled Studio, the 100 cover restaurant will feature deep blues and pale marbles and will be both welcoming and luxurious – exactly what you want from a Mayfair, Italian restaurant.

Margot: Opens 10th October 2016, 45 Great Queen Street, Covent Garden WC2B 5AA
