For the last six months, Bury Street restaurant, Matsuri has been undergoing a makeover and this week will see it rise out of the ashes like some sort of restaurant phoenix as it returns as Onodera, a new Japanese restaurant.
Rather than a fusion menu, Head Chef Ryosuke Kishi, is focusing on homely dishes and traditional Japanese cooking techniques. When it comes to ordering, you’re going to want to get the kobe beef robata yaki served with red miso truffle sauce, turbot kobujime usuzukuri and slow cooked duck confit served with red cabbage marinated in orange vinegar. You’ll also find sashimi, sushi and other seafood dishes.
Marbled counter will join slate walls, low hanging lamps, mirrors and a grand staircase to create a sleek, sophisticated ambience. When it comes to private dining there is a choice of three rooms and you’ll be able to choose from three menus: sushi, teppen-yaki or robata grill, or have one of the chefs cook at a private counter for you…
