You might not recognise the names Yianni Papoutsis and Scott Collins, but you’ll definitely know their restaurants and most definitely know their American –style burgers, they are the duo behind MEATliquor, MEATmission and MEATmarket. Now they’re set to open their fourth London restaurant, the first restaurant to open from the team since MEATmission in 2012.
Opening in October, they’re heading over to Upper Street in Islington, it was never their plan to head to Islington, but when a rather special venue came up, an abandoned Citroen garage, they knew they had to take the space. Previously it has played host to various pop-ups over the years and now the restaurant will spread across the old garage, workshops, storerooms, office and the recently unearthed cellar and basement.
The menu will be made up from their tried and tested American classics such as the Dirty Chicken Burger, deep fried pickles, chili cheese fries and The Dead Hippie, that’s two French’s mustard-fried beef patties, dead hippie sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and minced white onions if you were wondering. However they’ll also feature dishes from further afield with classics from the MEATliquor SINgapore menu appearing including Sambal wings, Sambal fries and buffalo shrimp.
We’re going to go out on a limb and say you’ve never had food this good from a garage before….
