‘It’s not like walking on to the set of Indiana Jones, don’t worry’ we were reassured when we heard that the latest club to open in Kensington, Montezuma, had an Aztec-esque interior. In fact it is far from it, picture a modern interior with lots of black, gold and marble, it’s sleek, polished and sophisticated.
The concept of Montezuma is simple, they want to inject the London club scene with a little bit of luxury and glamour and for it to be the ultimate VIP cocktail bar and club. Of course there’ll be plenty of dancing with a heavy emphasis on RnB and Hip Hop as well as some of the best international DJs performing with Doug Marshal and Joshua Roberts taking up residencies.
They’ll be serving up Japanese and South American tapas style cuisine and have a pretty extensive range of premium Champagne, vodka and spirits. In fact they have so much Champagne (because what’s a Kensington club without Champagne?) that each night at 1am they’ll have a Champagne show, not sure what that is? Then book a table, order some Champagne you’ll find out. Talking of entertainment they’ll have live drummers and if you’re lucky you might even meet the one and only Montezuma.
They’ll be open Monday to Thursday as a cocktail lounge and come Friday and Saturday it’s all about the dancing, although this weekend it’s open on Sunday too 1) because it’s the opening weekend and 2) no work on Monday!
Montezuma: Opens 1st May, 17 A Harrington Road, SW7 3ES, www.montezumalondon.com
