Mother’s Day 1

We all know we need to say thank you to our mothers more often; they have looked after us when we were scared of the dark, they've cooked us endless fish fingers, wiped away tears, confiscated dreadful eyeshadow (in hindsight, thank goodness), stopped us from leaving the house in sartorial disasters and been there for us more times than we can remember – so with Mother's Day just around the corner, it is time to get planning and say thank you properly. Here are some of the best events happening in London.

34

With their popularity soaring over the last few years and becoming a firm favourite amongst us Londoners, the Red Velvet Cupcake very rarely disappoints – the icing alone we could eat for days. In appreciation of them, restaurant 34 will be giving away one of these delicious treats to all ladies who come for lunch or dinner on Mother’s Day. www.34-restaurant.co.uk

Bulgari Hotel

If your mother is in need of some serious spoiling get into her good books until the end of time with a spa trip to the Bulgari Hotel. Providing the absolute ultimate in decadence, the Bulgari’s subterranean spa gleams with green onyz and glittering gold accents echoing the Bulgari family’s silversmith past and haute jeweller present. The private Onyx Spa Suite complete with two treatment beds, steam shower, and oversized hydro massage tub is available for hire for 3 hours with a 2 hour treatment included making it the perfect city retreat for you and your mother.  www.bulgarihotels.com

Kettner’s

How many times has your mother cooked the Sunday roast? We reckon over the years quite a lot – well how about you give her a break and take her to the Kettner’s for their classic British roast dinner in the 1930s brasserie, choose from roast saddle of Welsh lamb, roast loin of Galloway beef, or Cumbrian roast chicken with all the trimmings, of course! Or if you would rather, they will be serving a traditional Afternoon Tea between 1pm and 5pm in the apartment; with wooden panelled walls, a bespoke drinks cabinet and a pianist at the grand piano it is the perfect setting for a decadent Mother’s Day treat. www.kettners.com

Mansion Bar and Parlour

So forget all of that by going to Mansion Bar and Parlour for lunch, courses include chargrilled leeks with blue cheese hollandaise, roasted peppers stuffed with Mediterranean couscous salad and for pudding it has to be Her Ladyship’s lemon posset!   www.mansionbar.co.uk
