The Handbook

With less than a week until Mother's Day it is time to start planning what you are going to do treat your mother! But panic not, we have it sorted, in the second part of our Mother's Day events we have found some of the best afternoon teas and menus which are bound to give you major brownie points. All you have to do is book it! So from Prosecco and ping pong at Bounce to a massage at The Ritz, take your  pick!

Almeida is a cosy restaurant perfect to hide away in this Mother’s Day. In typical Almeida style chefs will serve up a delicious three course French menu, including a salad of baked beetroot, goat’s curd and balsamic pickled vegetables, pan-fried fillet of sea bream, hand rolled farfalle, clams and sea vegetables and a pear and almond tart with an Amoretti custard to finish it all off.

If you fancy something a bit more energetic this Mother’s Day why not pop down to Bounce? Here a line up of ping pong tables and complimentary glasses of Prosecco for all mothers (you could always be sneaky and say you bought it) are guaranteed to put a smile on everybody’s face.

Over on the Kings Road, Bluebird are serving up a wonderful menu on Mother’s Day so your mother won’t have to lift a finger – the hardest part? Knowing what to choose when dishes include Lobster fish pie, Caesar salad and lemon sole! For pudding we would definitely struggle to choose between raspberry mille – feuilles and a rocky road sundae.

Take your beloved mother to Bumpkin’s ‘Beloved Mother’s’ lunch this Mother’s Day, where you’ll find some seriously good homey food. With starters including smoked baby back ribs, a roast for the main served with all the trimmings and a Bramley apple pie with hazlenut crumble and custard to finish it will be like you’re sat round the table at home, just remember not to say if you prefer Bumpkin’s cooking to your mother’s!

Kensington Place

If you’re looking for a really nice restaurant to spoil your mother with this Mother’s Day look no further than friendly neighbourhood fish brasserie Kensington Place. Embracing all the flavours of the newly sprung spring dishes will include Cornish mackerel, potato salad and pickled shallots alongside the more traditional Sunday roasts of Hereford beef, and free range chicken. All mothers will be treated to a complimentary bellini on arrival.

Launceston Place

Hidden away in the heart of West London in the residential mews of Kensington enjoy a relaxed Mother’s Day at Launceston Place. Here head chef Tim Allen has created two beautiful Sunday menus including a traditional Sunday lunch or an alternative Market themed menu. The latter is set to offer dishes such as Cornish mackerel served cold with gooseberries, tartare, charred cucumber and iced grain mustard, English veal served three ways with mushroom puree, truffle linguine and Madeira jus and a passion fruit soufflé with grated fresh lime to finish it all off. There will also be a personal gift from the restaurant to all mothers to take home with them.

ME London

Rather than just buying flowers for your mother we suggest you head over to ME London for their Floral Afternoon Tea! Accompanying the sandwiches (which include salt beef and pickle and smoked salmon and cream cheese) will be a selection of floral inspired cakes and pastries including jasmine mouse with chocolate sacher lychee, raspberry and rose tart,  lavender and honey macaron and orange flower and marmalade gateaux – b.e.autiful!

One Aldwych

Brunch and films sound like a pretty ideal day to us, but brunch at Axis followed by a screening of Mammia Mia in One Aldwych’s private cinema seems perfect! Start with dishes such as ham hock ballotine, pickled spring vegetables and toasted sourdough before going on to grilled fillet of sea bream, fennel salad and Jersey royals and finishing off with the likes of white chocolate and blackberry éclairs. Then all you have to do is make your way to the screening room and fall into their luxurious leather chairs – with a glass of Lallier Grand Cru Réserve!

Spend Mother’s Day up in the clouds at Paramount – the spectacular restaurant and bar at the top of Centre Point. In celebration of the day the venue will run a special afternoon tea between 3-5pm with some fantastic tea time fodder including butter poached chicken, avocado and tomato sandwiches on spinach bread and delicious sweets of caramel and lavender mousse cups and dark chocolate pave coco

A big glass of red wine and a long lazy Sunday afternoon lunch, sounds like the perfect way to spend Mother’s Day, which is exactly what Paradise are offering over in Kensal Green. They’ll also have a photo booth so you can capture the afternoon, just don’t have too many glasses of wine first!

Pont ST

There surely is no better feeling than flopping down to an enormous roast dinner after a morning of pottering around Knightsbridge. If this sounds like something you could tolerate then restaurant Pont ST is definitely the place for you and your mother to head this Sunday. Curated by head chef Sophie Michel, choose from a roasted loin of pork, Label Anglais roast chicken or a sirloin of beef before it gets even better as you realize your mother's roast will be on the house! Served between the 12-6pm, Pont ST’s unique blend of casual Bohemian New York with sincere British hospitality will take fantastic care of you.
