Prepare for some hot rooftop action today when Selfridges launches an 18 week happening, set around a secret garden restaurant with lush herbaceous borders and dense foliage. Intrigued? Thought so.
The main event is an eatery from Des McDonald of Q Grill in Camden with an all-day BBQ menu paired with a lighter range of summer dishes and a raw counter too. A breakfast menu will include organic granola with yoghurt and Early Grey prunes (don’t knock ‘em til you’ve tried ‘em) or Eggs Benedict, as well as buttermilk pancakes with blueberry compote and poached egg, with beans and kale. Expect side orders of talks and events from leading chefs, producers, innovators and influencers.
Desserts include Eton Mess, English strawberries and cream and apple pie plus a selection of healthy recipes from Daisy Lowe’s new cookbook – gluten, dairy and refined sugar free. Also on the summer health tip is pop-up juice bar, The Juicery from New Yorker Cindy Palusamy.
The venue has been inspired by grand Victorian greenhouses and pièce de résistance is a retractable roof! In the evening, a garden path will lead to a candlelit terraced dining area and there’s a bar too serving jugs of Pimms and English sparkling wine from the Gusbourne Estate. After all that kale we think we deserve a proper drink…
