Prosecco, spritz and small plates specialist, POLPO, has announced that it will be opening a further two restaurants next month. With ten restaurants in Brighton and London already, they’ll be heading north, to open one restaurant in Harvey Nichols in Leeds; as well as moving onto the Fifth Floor of Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge to join the likes of Kurobuta and Burger & Lobster.
Taking inspiration from the rustic back street wine bars of Venice, they’ll be sticking to their bàcaro roots, keeping the food simple and the interior humble, which will be a nod to the charm and faded elegance of La Serenissima.
Signature dishes include cicheti such as fried stuffed olives, zucchini arancini and fig and prosciutto crostini. Small plates will include pizzetta with spicy pork and pickled peppers, deep fried polenta-crusted meatballs, cod cheeks with lentils and salsa verde and sliced flank steak with porcini. Puddings include flourless chocolate and hazelnut cake, blackberry panna cotta and tiramisu pots. Drinks wise, spritz will be served with Aperol or Campari, alongside Negronis and Bellinis and POLPO’s own label Garganega, Corvina and Prosecco.
