Could Stoke Newington get any more authentic? Newest foodie destination opening near Clissold Park next week is Primeur – inspired by the local Gallic grocery shops of the same name.
The site was an actual green grocer about a hundred years ago before being converted into a garage in the 1930s but as of next week it’s to be reborn with open kitchen and communal dining tables for a cosy 40 guests.
This joint venture from French born Jeremie Cometto-Lingenheim (Mark Hix to the Boxer brothers) and Cornish David Gingell (The Wolseley to Bistrotheque) will feature produce from UK suppliers including fruit and veggies grown in local allotments.
On their menu you’ll find the likes of Asparagus, peas and soft pecorino on toast, Pork belly, spring onions and Korean chilli paste plus Seabass and seaweed tartare with weekend brunches featuring Fried duck eggs add sea beet, Ricotta pancakes, bacon and maple syrup or a family style Whole roast chicken, peas and bacon.
Wine comes from small producers worldwide with eight to 10 selected daily all of which can be ordered by the glass.
