The brand new diner and burger joint just launched at cool live music venue, Birthdays in Dalston promises to be ‘so far up your culinary street it’s laid out a welcome mat on your tastebuds.’ It’s the brainchild of the entrepreneurs behind Birthdays, The White Rabbit, The Macbeth, Alibi and the Asylum Club in Fitzrovia – not to mention Roots Manuva!
Chef Danny Cheetham’s main courses include the eponymous Psychic Burger (aged fore rib and chuck steak pattie in a glazed brioche bun with lettuce, marmande tomato, gherkin and Psychic burger sauce), Smoked Fried Chicken (brined and smoked with hickory wood chips, seasoned and deep fried), Soft Crab Burger (seasoned, deep fried and served in a brioche bun with smoked garlic aioli and sweet chilli sauce and bulls blood leaves) and Veggie Burger (a sweet potato, chick pea, coriander and chilli pattie).
A snack menu features Charred Lettuce, Pear, Walnuts & Blue Cheese; Pork Skin Popcorn and Gin & Beetroot Cured Salmon & Goat's Curd; sides are all about Chilli Cheese Fries (house fries with chili con carne, jalapeno peppers and cheddar and mozzarella cheese) and desserts include Chocolate Brownie & White Chocolate Espuma and Baked Blueberry & Vanilla Cheese Cake.
There is also a sugar high brunch menu that lurches from traditional Belgian Waffles to Salted Caramel Doughnut with Popcorn Sugar French Toast. But if that has your insulin levels reeling you can stick to diner classics like Green Eggs & Smoked Ham, Buttermilk & Blueberry Pancake Stack and Smoked Bacon & Maple Syrup.
Drink a Mind Sweeper (Olmeca Altos Plata Tequila, Sagres Beer, Lime Juice, served in a pint glass on ice with a salty rim), Pomegranate Margarita (Olmeca Altos Plata Tequila, Pomegranate juice, Triple Sec, Lime Juice or Lychee Bellini (Prosecco, Lychee Liqueur, Sake, Served in a Champagne flute) and get ready to party.
