It may have a bit of a random name but brand new bar and diner, Radicals and Victuallers in Islington’s Upper Street is a cool new venue you might just want to make your friend. It’s a mix of restaurant-style tables and high stools inside and then an al fresco courtyard complete with a canopy of fairy lights, and, more importantly for the time of year, heaters.
Nibble on Hot & Kicking Sriracha Wings or the Meat Sharer with its sliders, wings, double-cooked chips and dips or get properly stuck in with the thirteen-strong selection of burgers including Fried Egg & Peanut Butter, Hippy Deluxe with Mushroom & Emmental. Nik Naks make for an eccentric yet moreish topping.
Alternative options feature fried chicken and deep-filled bowls of chorizo mac ‘n’ cheese, homemade roasts with all the trimmings on Sundays and an all-American dessert list has Chocolate Brownie Sundae with mini marshmallows as a sugary highlight.
Drink brews from both sides of the pond, such as Camden and Meantime or Brooklyn Lager and Goose Island 312 plus an extensive selection of wines, artisan spirits and house-made concoctions. PS burgers are two-for-one on Tuesdays. #JustSayin’
