Cast your mind back to Valentine’s Day 2010 can you remember what you were doing? Chances are you were either weeping into a bucket of ice-cream; sat with all the other couples in some restaurant or just going about your normal day – because who really cares about Valentine’s Day? What you might not have known is that it was also the day that Neapolitan pizzeria, Santa Maria opened in Ealing and our lives were changed for ever.
Regularly topping the lists of pizza places you have to try before you die, the award winning pizza is now coming to Chelsea as founders Pasquale Chionchio and Angelo Ambrosio set up shop near Stamford Bridge next month. So say goodbye to your spring health regime, say hello to something that will always love you and welcome back the cheesy, carby goodness.
You know what makes their pizza so good? Because it’s cooked in under a minute at 450° in a handmade oven that uses bricks from Sorrento and sand from Mount Vesuvius – talk about fancy. It might also have something to do with the fact that they use San Marzano D.O.P tomatoes, Fior di Latte Mozzarella and cured meats from Italy. Sausage comes from free-range North Yorkshire rare breeds and vegetables are sourced locally according to seasonal availability.
Alongside the pizzas they’ll be serving up specials including stuffed meatballs with ricotta, smoked mozzarella and nduja which sounds like heaven to us and their aubergine parmigiana which we have only heard good things about. Also, unlike it’s Ealing counterpart it’ll be able to cater for larger parties and there’ll be some bookings taken too… oh hello Valentine’s Day 2017.
Thank you pizza for being our one true love in life.
