The Handbook
The Handbook

For the last three years, Saucy Chip have been touring the country in their red, white and blue Citroen H truck, amassing loyal fans including Cara Delevingne, Noel Gallagher and Prince Harry and serving up the likes of Rock and Roll Chips – chips covered 24-hour steeped beef gravy and topped with oozing melted Red Leicester and Cheddar,  basically portions of heaven.

Now, drum roll please, they have a found a permanent home in London’s Jerusalem Bar and Kitchen and it opens today. Hurrah! The menu will include all the current festival favourites such as their five signature gourmet chip dishes including the Kick Ass chilli cheese chips – chips topped with 100% spicy beef chilli, Cheddar and Sparkenhoe Red Leicester and their chips smothered in homemade Katsu curry sauce and the Saucy Chick burger. New additions include fish balls made with smoked haddock and cod and a new signature burger, The Double Whammy – two beef patties, double cheese, onion, gherkin relish, lettuce and ketchup.

When it comes to sauces it won’t just mayonnaise and ketchup –because there is nothing impressive about that, instead they’ll have over 20 different varieties from around the world. Including the infamous Holy F**K Sauce from London’s very own Rib Man; the Kansas City inspired Prairie Fire traditional BBQ and the South African, Zulu Zulu Peri Peri garlic sauce. Now everyone can be a condiment kind of person.

Puddings are just as indulgent we’re talking about a peach and raspberry Knickerbocker Glory stuffed with ice cream from London’s Ice Cream Union, popping candy, sweets and mini meringues from the Meringue Girls. Or go for Death by Chocolate – which sounds a fine way to go by us, it’s gooey salted caramel brownie, lashings of cream, homemade pecan brittle, Rolos, Oreo crumb and a side serving of Twix – because why not?

Saucy Chip: Opens 24th April 2017, 33-34 Rathbone Place, Fitzrovia, W1T 1JN, www.saucychip.com
