Shaking It Up In The World of Burgers

Get your burger on, Westfield Stratford! Yes tomorrow sees the grand opening of Shake Shack’s second London location on the shopping mall’s ‘the street’. First UK venue, Covent Garden is proving something of an institution since its launch a couple of years ago so we’re super excited about this second venue and we’re sure hungry shoppers will be too.

The modern day “roadside” burger joint is known for its 100% all-natural, antibiotic-free Angus beef burgers, griddled flat-top dogs, fresh-made frozen custard and crispy crinkle cut fries.  Its new incarnation will feature recyclable and sustainable materials including table tops made from reclaimed bowling alleys handcrafted in Brooklyn and reclaimed wall panelling from water tanks that once topped buildings across the NYC skyline.

On the menu you’ll find Shake Shack favorites including the ShackBurger, SmokeShack, Shroom Burger and Shack-cago Dog. Burgers will be made with freshly ground 100% Scottish Aberdeen Angus beef with the ShackBurger made with cheese, fresh lettuce, tomato and ShackSauce  finished with a buttered, toasted, soft potato roll. The bacon burger or SmokeShack features British free-range Wiltshire cure smoked bacon, chopped cherry peppers and ShackSauce, the flat-top dog section of the menu features a London-only Cumberland Sausage handmade by Sillfield Farm using rare breed pork from Cumbria.

The menu will also include a craft beer and wine list with highlights being ShackMeister Ale—available on tap and brewed exclusively for Shake Shack by Thornbridge Brewery plus house wines bottled exclusively by Lafage in Languedoc-Roussillon, France. Non-alcoholic variants feature lemonade and bottled root beer from Abita Brewing Co.

Oh yes and signature desserts are all about concretes aka frozen custards such as Peanut Butter CrunchCrete (chocolate custard, St. JOHN Bakery chocolate hazelnut brownie, peanut butter sauce and chocolate toffee), East End Pie Oh My (vanilla custard and a slice of Flour Power bramley apple pie); and Banana Pretzel Pudding (vanilla custard, paul.a.young chocolate covered pretzels, caramel sauce, fresh banana and maldon salt).
