If you’ve been to Flemings Mayfair recently then you will have seen that Michelin-starred chef Shaun Rankin has recently opened Ormer Mayfair– a restaurant paying tribute and taking inspiration from the St Helier shores of Jersey, where you’ll already find his famous restaurant Ormer.

Celebrating British heritage, the menu will bring together foraged herbs, English wine and seasonal produce. Dishes include hand-dived scallops from the Channel Islands; Jersey lobster ravioli; venison loin with medjool dates, quinoa, parsnips and chocolate tortellini and turbot with a pine nut crust, cockles, cauliflower and sea vegetables. Vegetarian offerings include herb-stuffed gnocchi, artichoke, aubergine, beans and sherry and mushroom fagottini, egg yolk and parsnip parmesan. Finish with coconut mousse with white chocolate, pineapple carpaccio and mango; treacle tart with raspberries and mint or Victoria plum soufflé – there is of course a decadent brownie for chocolate fiends.

The hotel has undergone a £14 million refurbishment with interior designers Tully Filmer creating a dining space which has all the glamour of the 1920s and 1930s, with Art Deco touches. Dark panels, glass tiles, British racing green leather, bronze highlights and velvet banquette seating make up the look. It also features two private dining rooms that seat up to 20 guests if you’re looking for somewhere to host your party.

With a tasting menu coming next week, we have a feeling this is going to be our new autumn haunt.
