When you think of Sketch, your first thoughts are pinky hues and crowds of influencers, snapping up the perfect ‘gram, and thanks to owner Mourad Mazouz, crowds of micro-celebs will soon be lining up on Heddon Street, eager to be amongst the first to snap a pic at Mo Diner, the new American-style diner opening in Mayfair.
Mazouz, owner of Sketch and Momo, is opening up another eatery in the heart of Mayfair, only this time it’ll be an American-style diner with Mediterranean influences, located next to Momo. You’ll soon be filling up your Insta feeds with bright yellow Moroccan-style tiles, close-ups of the palm tree sky-light box and selfies in front of the cacti-filled conservatory, I mean, would you expect anything less?

The owner’s other venture, Momo, itself has undergone a total revamp to celebrate its 22nd birthday, decked out with a new added 19th century style cocktail bar, Kwānt, led by award-winning bartender Erik Lorincz, formerly at The American Bar at the Savoy Hotel.
In true rock ‘n’ roll style, the all-day restaurant will serve up brunch-style dishes sprinkled with Mediterranean spices and flavours. Highlights include Mo hash browns with pomegranate and brown sauce; berber pancakes with fig marmalade and almonds; Moroccan khlea with beef, eggs and green chermoula; and a twist of the classic eggs Florentine with spinach, mulikhiyah and Aleppo hollandaise.
If you’re more of a sharing plate kind of gal, you’ll be able to dive into dishes like lobster rock ‘n’ roll, Loulou’s chicken wings, merguez in a blanket, and grilled octopus with saffron aioli. Desserts include the Egyptian-style ‘Om Ali’ bread pudding, and hibiscus, rhubarb and basil cheesecake. Of course, you’ll be able to get your milkshake fix or, something a little stronger to give you a zing thanks to the hard shakes.
Mazouz is known for pulling out all of the stops where design is concerned, and it’s certainly the case with Mo Diner, as work has been overseen by Willo Perron & Associates. Photographer Hugo Scott will be showcasing approximately 50 of his much celebrated photographs at the site, while Sonia Taouhid has custom designed Breton uniform for the staff and illustrator Yue Wu has created a display for the venue’s staircase.
