Smoke & Salt is on the move. The modern British restaurant is upping sticks from Islington’s Chapel Bar, to take up a permanent home in one of Pop Brixton’s shipping containers.
Brought to you by chefs, Remi Williams and Aaron Webster, Smoke & Salt is all about modern dining and ancient techniques. Through curing, smoking and preserving, the guys will be cooking up a daily changing menu of small plates. Dishes are set to include asparagus with whey vinaigrette and ricotta; panelles with spicy ketchup; pork belly with broccoli, pumpkin seeds and London honey; lamb merguez tartare with grilled flatbread and labneh and for pudding, London Mess.
Whilst much slicker than you average shipping container, the 27-cover restaurant does give subtle nods to its industrial setting with bulkhead ship lights and brass Plimsoll. Wall cladding will absorb the sound to keep the atmosphere cosy and your eye is drawn to the light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak, the kitchen.
Ahead of their full opening, they’ll be offering their full tasting menu for just £20 with 25% off drinks from today until the 15th June – you can find more details here.
