We always like welcome homes and this month sees the return of ‘beats and eats’ pop-up Smokey Tails and here at The Handbook we’re waiting with open arms. After taking a tour around Melbourne, Sydney, Miami and Amsterdam, DJ Seth Troxler, Jo Vidler (Wilderness Festival Co-founder) and Jona Ahearne (flavour technician) are back and this time they are here to stay as they set up camp with a permanent residency at Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen.
The 64 cover restaurant will be serving up lazy lunches and Midwest weekend brunches of hearty family food and killer sides, the sort of place you want to go and just hang out with your friends when you have no other plans to rush off to and can just take it slow. Ideal.
Taking inspiration from his 3 generation old family recipe book Seth will be serving up hand to mouth food, the sort to really get stuck into. The menu includes the likes of twice smoked Toulouse streaky bacon with poached eggs and Berkswell muffins; Honey chicken biscuit sliders; hickory smoked pork ribs; super salads such as smoked pumpkin, mixed mushrooms, bulgar and goats curd and the ‘Whole Shebang!’ which to you and me is a plate full of chicken, ribs, pork, biscuits and sides served with pickles and wait for it, a whole trio of butters. Sides include the likes of smokey mac & cheese, coney chilli fries and smoked nuts. To finish you’ll be wanting the chocolate salted brownie with smoked muscovado ice cream obviously.
When the weather gets its act together they’ll be hosting brunches outside on the terrace on Sundays; so listen up weather, we need to talk to you…
