Just launched on High Street Ken overlooking Kensington Gardens is a brand new Spaghetti House and the new boutique offering from the family owned chain is small but perfectly formed.
Interiors are subtle and stylish with light wooden tables and banquette seating. Calming shades of green offset stronger splashes of colour and neutral walls create the perfect backdrop for the black and white photos of scenes from Italian life.
An open kitchen lies at the heart of the restaurant and diners can watch chefs dishing up assaggini and antipasti, sharing platters, regional fish and meat specialities and stone-baked pizza. Expect the finest Italian ingredients including Sicilian olives served on ice, rustic breads from Sardinia and Puglia and matured Parma Harm from Emilia-Romagna.
With a motto ‘Vivere per mangiare, non mangiare per vivere’ – meaning live to eat, not eat to live, Spaghetti House is London’s longest established restaurant group founded in 1955 by Simone Lavarini and Lorenzo Fraquelli. Nowadays it is still family run and looked after by Simone’s three grown-up children.
Says CEO Luigi Lavarini: “Our Italian heritage is stronger than ever today, and whilst we will always remain true to our roots, we are shaping our future with restaurants which will have their own individual look and character, like this one, opened for the local Kensington community.”
