Do we really need another excuse to go to East London? With the never-ending rise of boozy pop-ups and permanent foodie fixtures, Shoreditch-way is fast becoming the hotspot of London so, no, we don’t need another excuse. But, with the refurbishment of Hackney’s The Chesham Arms, well, looks like we’re just going to have to go!
Three (much anticipated) months after work began, the entirely renovated pub finally welcomes guests to soak up the sun and a couple of cocktails. Weather looking good? Seize the opportunity and take advantage of the beer garden, with four working fireplaces for the impending autumn evenings. Smokey barbecues will also be a weekly occurrence to line the stomach. The selection of real-ales from Hackney itself along with award-winning beers, a specialist gin selection and French wines, it’s safe to say you’ll have a good night.
The vintage interior, original Victorian wallpaper and ash top-bar make for a quirky and exciting atmosphere and with local developments around the pub increasingly becoming more popular, The Chesham Arms will become the social hub of Hackney. After almost 1000 days of campaigning to keep the pub in the hands of the locals and not the council, it would be a waste not to go!
