Great Titchfield Street’s The Crown & Sceptre has long been a hangout for denizens of its surrounding media companies and now it’s better than ever following an extensive refurbishment and a new and improved range of international draught beer and cask ales to boot.
Its inviting gold and blue exterior gives way to a newly positioned spot lit bar and quirky design touches such as light-fittings fashioned out of old milk bottles, wrought iron chandeliers from Morocco, studded leather stools and bright pink armchairs with ‘King’ and ‘Queen’ cushions. The wood panelled décor also features vintage Radio Times posters and a print of the first image from the BBC studios whilst laptop points and a central presentation screen make it a slick meeting space during working hours.
Beers hail both from local London breweries such as Meantime and Camden alongside seasonally rotating guests and the bar also boasts some of the best lagers Europe and beyond. Wine lovers will enjoy a handpicked range of great value grapes from across the globe such as a Spanish De Alto Rioja, Verdejo, Macabeo Blend and the French Rothschild St Emilion. A concise list of fizz includes the English Ridgeview Cavendish Sparkling.
Food offerings served on both the venue’s long raised tables, by the fireside and in its red leather booth features regularly rotating dishes such as starters of Beef Brisket & Beetroot Hash with Fried Egg or Paris Brown, Flat & Oyster Mushrooms on Rye with Stilton Cream and mains including Pork & Chorizo Burger with Caramelised Red Onion & Fries and Wild Salmon Fish Cakes, Lemon Crème Fraiche, Potato Wedges & Celeriac & Apple Slaw.
Indulgent desserts such as the Salted Caramel & Chocolate Tart with Clotted Cream complete the line-up.
