Seven-Eighths, creator of the Hemingway in Hackney’s Victoria Park, has just launched latest literary inspired venture, The Hunter S. The brand new bar, lounge and dining room lies in the heart of Islington and follows the extensive restoration of a Victorian-era corner pub.
The Art Deco inspired main lounge is all luxurious 1930s with fur, velvet, tortoise shell, polished wood, leather and copper creating visual focal points while the dining room features an engraved copper ceiling with a jaw-dropping vintage crystal chandelier at its centre.
The menu of freshly prepared dishes created in a bustling open kitchen features starters such as Salmon trio of rillet, smoked and caviar with Melba toast; Tiger prawn carpaccio with spring onion, cress salad and chilli oil and Scotch egg with piccalilli and fresh green salad.
Mains include Beef Wellington with purple sprouting broccoli, mixed salad, chunky chips and red wine jus; Pan fried sea bream with crab, crushed new potatoes and a caper & parsley sauce and 35 day air hung rib-eye steak with French fries, watercress salad, béarnaise and peppercorn sauces. Pudding is all about the Bailey’s cheesecake and chocolate spring-rolls with vanilla ice cream.
The Hunter S aims to put Sundays on the map by serving one of the best roasts in the capital and the traditional Sunday roast with its selection of traditional meat roasts, including beef fillet, plus a vegetarian roast with all the trimmings is set to be a highlight of the week.
