Chelsea favourite all-day café people, The quarter Group has just opened The Kensington Quarter at Hotel Indigo in Earl’s Court. This newby isn’t just a café/bar though – there’s a brand new deli as well too. Head Riad Zailuk whose CV takes in post Oxo Tower Brasserie and Pont de la Tour to Chelsea local The Phene, has created a menu prepared from organic, seasonal and locally crafted ingredients, with meat and poultry sourced from independent suppliers who only engage in ethical methods.
If you’re going traditional, starter highlights feature Handpicked Cornish crab salad and Salad of confit Lancaster duck leg, mains include Native lobster roll, Five spices braised mutton shoulder and Free range chicken and pigeon pastilla pie and desserts are all about the Valrhona chocolate fondant or Spicy banana ginger tarte tatin. However, snackers (girls) will love the sharing platters from Mediterranean meze through to Quarter seafood platter which features delights such as stuffed baby squid with herb cous cous.
Drink Riojas and Burgundies or cocktails like the signature Kensington Infusion – Jack Daniel’s No 7 American whiskey, crème de cassis, a drop of coffee and London stout beer.
As for the in-house deli, we’re talking goodies sourced from small producers such as Daiisy & Dam’s superdelicious luxury organic chocolate, Farrington’s rapeseed oil, organic apple juice from family run Moor’s Farm in Kent and Dodd’s gin, a small batch gin made from organic botanicals at nearby Battersea’s The London Distillery. You can’t get gin much closer to home than that!
