The Orange Elephant Opens

We once read that having more choice actually makes us less happy and that having to choose from several things can actually cause stress – we all know the dilemma of being in a restaurant wanting 5 things on the menu, not knowing what to choose, worrying we’re going to get food envy or make the wrong decision and so we end up choosing a burger everywhere we go.

Well Orange Elephant which is opening on Fulham Road is going to get rid of that stress because there is no menu. Instead they will be serving up 12oz sirloin steak with special house sauce, side salads and chips – and that’s it, well apart from the gourmet truffle mac ’n’ cheese for vegetarians and the showstopper Tomahawk steak, served on the bone and made for sharing. Still, with a limited menu it means that you won’t have to fret about

Now for the name, Orange Elephant is the nickname given to the rustic brown South Devonshire Cow which is the largest of the native British cattle and all the beef will be sourced from British farms and aged for 32 days. Head Chef Jai Parkinson will then be using the Big Green Egg to barbecue the steak so that it is roasted and smoked at the same time to give it its juicy, succulent flavour. To accompany will be a succinct selection of red and white wines, prosecco and cocktails.

They’ve gone for a casual, comfortable interior with a mix of exposed brick work, wood floors, pewter table tops and bronze accents, making it suitable for quick lunches or longer suppers.

Time for supper without the decisions.
