And so it begins, London’s terraces, gardens and al fresco dining areas are starting to reopen after a winter that felt as long as something out of GoT. Signaling the start of summer, rosé after work, and optimistic short wearing.
Head to Kings Cross restaurant, Rotunda and you’ll find that their terrace has been transformed into ‘The Waterside Garden’ in partnership with Champagne house Perrier-Jouët. Step off the streets, through the scented floral archway and into a garden overlooking Regent’s Canal created by charity, Global Generation. It’ll be filled with ivy, white roses, wild strawberries, herbs and the Perrier-Jouet signature flower, the Japanese anemone as well as a number of sculptures supplied by Pangolin London – it’s certainly going to be more impressive than the lone flower box – unless you’re a seasoned gardener then we take it back.
The holy grail of the terrace will be The Waterside Garden Bar, adorned with floral motifs hand-painted by a Perrier-Jouet artist, which will serve different Perrier-Jouet Champagnes by the glass, bottle and if it’s a real case of #treatyoself then magnums, as well as wines, beers and cocktails created by Green & Fortune’s own mixologist Karl Cooney. We have our eye on the Perrier-Jouet Champagne Negroni – it’s like a Negroni but with Champagne instead of gin. Ideal.
The 60-cover terrace will also feature a vast deck chair and lounge seating terrace so you can pull up a pew and have a drink or two after work. On the menu, designed to compliment the floral notes of the Champagne, you’ll find the likes of pan-fried scallops with wilted spinach, Champagne velouté and Avruga caviar; free range Suffolk pork with truffle sausages with bitter leaf salad and lavender crème brûlée.
If you’re looking for somewhere for your summer party then they’ll also be offering exclusive party -packages available for groups of 20-300 with different menus to suit all – think BBQ menus, hog roasts, steak and lobster or picnic menus!
The Waterside Garden: Opens 14th April – until September, Rotunda Bar & Restaurant, Kings Place, 90 York Way, Kings Cross, N1 9AG www.rotundabarandrestaurant.co.uk
