Oh to be ten again – not a care in the world, you were in Year Five so you had been elevated to the lofty heights of sitting on the benches in assembly but you didn’t have to do your SATS. You had authority in the playground but you didn’t have the imposing threat of Year Sevens waiting for you in September. Most importantly, everyone knew your Laser Quest party was going to be the best.
Somewhere that turns ten this year is InterContinental London Park Lane’s restaurant, Theo Randall at the InterContinental, and whilst they aren’t turning it into Laser Quest for the night, they do have the next best thing, as they are reopening with a new interior and menu.
There’ll be a focus on fish and shellfish alongside a selection of rare breed cattle and poultry dishes on the menu, but at the heart of it will still be simple, yet robust flavours and Italian cooking. Dishes will include sogliola (whole roasted Dover sole with lemon parsley and capers with carcofi alla Romana and swiss chard), a rich Agnolotti di Piccione (fresh pasta stuffed with slow cooked pigeon with Porcini and Trompette de la Mort mushrooms) and Cervo (loin of venison wrapped in coppa di Parma, roasted with Alatico di Puglia wine with delica squash mash and cavolo nero).
The new bar menu will serve both authentic and innovative Italian cocktails as well as natural wines from artisan winemakers. To accompany will be a menu of small dishes and antipasti, making it the ideal pit stop if you don’t have time to sit down for a full meal.
Design consultancy SuperFutures have given the restaurant a new look, it’s brighter, lighter, more contemporary and now features a Kitchen Table which sits up to eight people. Here you’ll be able to try the tasting menu which is designed just the day before, so you can guarantee it’ll be truly seasonal.
The current private dining room will be joined by a new second private room which will be connected via a sliding door and it’s here that Theo will host his regular masterclasses and where you can host your events and drinks receptions.
Sounds like a solid ten to us.
