Looking ahead to the summer collections? Keen to trade in your winter coat for a summer frock? Visa Swap is back for 2008 and it’s bigger and better than before with exciting additions including the introduction of Menswear, The Accessories Room and the ‘Visa Swap Market’.
Visa Swap 2008 invites all fashion lovers to gather their unwanted designer and high-street clothes, shoes and bags and bring them to the Visa Swap Loft in London’s Covent Garden over a three week period. In return they will receive redeemable points in exchange for their fashion items. The more exclusive and unique the garment, the higher the points you’ll receive. At the final weekend, swappers are expected to arrive armed with the official Visa Swap card they received when they dropped off, loaded with points to ‘buy’ items donated by other swappers.
The shop, called Visa Swap Loft, centrally located at No.1 The Piazza, Covent Garden, is a large scale popup boutique which is set to encompass everything you love about swapping fashion with the addition of the following highlights new for 2008:
The Accessories Room
In response to 2007’s incredible stampede for handbags, shoes and accessories, which won’t be quickly forgotten, Visa Swap 2008 has created The Accessories Room within the Visa Swap Loft and grouped all products other than clothes together.
‘Visa Swap Market’
Also new to Visa Swap 2008 is the introduction of the ‘Visa Swap Market’ where swappers can purchase small items from individual designers and artists to make a difference to the items they’ve swapped. Items will include jewellery, corsages, zips and buttons. Stylists will be on hand throughout the day to advise customers on how to achieve a new look with quirky accessories.
Following a few glum faces on the fellas who attended the first Visa Swap event, new for 2008 is the introduction of Menswear. If you are bored of your man’s look encourage him to revive his wardrobe at no expense. Also, Dress2kill tailors will be on hand to custom fit swapped suits to ensure the perfect fit.
Once again, Visa has teamed up with TRAID (Textile Recycling for Aid and International Development), a charity committed to protecting the environment and reducing world poverty by recycling clothes and shoes. Any remaining clothes from the event will be donated to TRAID so nothing will be wasted and every garment will find a new home.
