Not all restaurants are born equal and new Japanese eatery, Wazen, looks promisingly like it will be a cut above the rest. Serving authentic Japanese food with head chef Toshimasa Tanahashi (formerly of Kouzu – which we loved) overseeing kitchen activity with his over 30 years of experience.
The restaurant boasts that it will be serving up food that “you won’t find anywhere else in London” with dishes like Spicy tuna tartare, Chicken kakinotane, Baby Chicken with nanban sauce, and Stone bass with tomato ume and yuzu shio ponzu. The food will be an authentic representation of Japanese cuisine, prepared of course by Japanese chefs, and will include an extensive choice of Japanese starters, sashimi, tempura and sushi rolls.
No Japanese restaurant would be complete without a good selection of sake and Wazen will feature one of the widest ranges of premium sakes in London. Guests will also be able to take part in ‘kikizake’, a tasting flight of three sakes allowing customers to sample unique and rare sake from all across Japan.
The venue will enjoy a traditional, minimal design on the inside to complete the Japan experience which they hope will ensure regular visits from both locals and Japanese food lovers alike. Things will be more casual around lunchtime with guests able to enjoy laid back dishes with a smaller price tag plus a special Bento box set lunch offer.
Wazen: Opens 12th October, 2 Acton Street, WC1X 9NA www.wazen-restaurant.co.uk
