West London’s Latest Pizzeria Will Definitely Deliver

Want a pizza our minds? It’s that West London’s latest opening is going to be great! Zia Lucia, Islington’s independent pizzeria, is opening a new restaurant in Brook Green next month: Make ours a spicy spianata salami!

Pizza has undergone something of a renaissance over the last few years, gone are the days when Pizza Hut and Dominos dominated – now there’s a plethora of genuinely authentic pizza restaurants offering amazing cooking and delicious pizzas popping up across the capital, and none less so than the already legendary Zia Lucia which opened on Holloway Road just last year.

Zia Lucia is known across North London for their unusual doughs and imaginative toppings. While most pizza places do their clever stuff on the top of the pizza, Zia Lucia put as much effort into the bases as the toppings. Their 48-hour slow-fermented doughs are renowned, including the restaurant’s traditional white flour, earthy wholemeal, crisp gluten free and a vegetable charcoal black dough bases. And to celebrate the Brook Green opening Zia Lucia will be adding a limited edition, green vegetable dough to the menu, the ‘Brook Green Dough’.

The 50 seat restaurant will serve a selection of fresh classic Italian toppings, their signature Arianna and Andrea Pirlo pizzas will be available on their four special dough bases while toppings will range from Italian mainstays like fiery nduja, spicy spianata salami, truffle honey, burrata, rich gorgonzola all the way to vegan butternut squash cream, not to mention seasonal specials.

As well as pizza, there will be selection of Italian-style starters, salads and desserts while the drinks menu will focus on spritzes, Italian beers, wine and (of course) Prosecco from Italian producers, and the restaurant’s famous negronis.

Zia Lucia literally means ‘Auntie Lucia’ in Italian and the restaurant is an homage to founder Gianluca D’Angelo’s own aunt, who is both the inspiration and principle investor in this wonderful, family-run, venture. Given the latest expansion, just a year after the first opening, she’s presumably seeing a healthy return on that investment.

Zia Lucia: Opens late 3rd February 2018, 61 Blythe Road, Brook Green, W14 0HP, www.zialucia.com
