We took advantage of the recent gorgeous weather and chose to spend an evening enjoying the Italian cuisine at Franco’s, Jermyn Street.

We were greeted with a champagne cocktail, and took a seat amongst the romantic chic décor. The relaxed atmosphere spilled through the open doors out onto the street where others enjoyed their meals outside, while the light evening air drifted in past our table inside.

Having heard good rumours about Franco’s, and they started well with our first course; a delicious crab salad perfectly complimented with diced tomato and avocado puree. My guest, not usually a calamari fan, ordered it anyway, and it came deep fried to perfection; crispy without the lingering ‘greasy’ feel, and both dishes were ideally small enough to enjoy, but still leave room for our main course!

For mains we opted for a sumptuous pan fried calves liver, superbly cooked and drizzled in a divine balsamic sauce. Though, slightly on the smaller side, this did require a side order of mash. We can’t visit an Italian restaurant without indulging in a pasta dish; and our taglliatelle was served with prawns and rocket, was wonderfully filling. Perfect for a hungry guest!

When it comes to drinks, the wine list is delightfully extensive, and for those looking for something a little more playful or exotic, there is also a vibrant cocktail menu with seasonal drinks, perfect for the summer weather!

For pudding we had a creamy vanilla ice cream and contrasted this by adding  a tangy fruit sorbet, absolutely bursting with flavour.

The service may have been a little slow at times, but the food and overall experience was delicious; a truly lovely way to pass an evening after work, and keep the taste buds and tummies happy.
