Confessions of a Fashionista Afternoon Tea at London Hilton Park Lane

By Charlotte Knight | 21st September 2017

What: The Confessions of a Fashionista Afternoon Tea was created at London Hilton on Park Lane in collaboration with elegant British womenswear label Madderson London and the luxury London shoe brand, Lucy Choi.

New? Yes and you don’t have long to try it out, the Confessions of a Fashionista Afternoon Tea is available from 11th-24th September to coincide with London Fashion Week (15th-19th September 2017).

Where? London Hilton on Park Lane, 22 Park Lane, Mayfair W1K 1BE

On the Menu: Sandwiches include options like smoked salmon and horseradish cream on malted bread, and coronation chicken, curry and pineapple on ciabatta bloomer. Freshly baked chocolate chip and plain scones are complemented by praline chocolate spread, clotted cream and strawberry jam. The fashion flair is shown off with the sweet section with the likes of the shortbread replica of the stunning “Naomi” dress from Madderson London worn by the Duchess of Cambridge and an iced designer shoe on chocolate platform.

What We Ate: The sandwiches come first, prettily displayed with their garnishes like an elaborately presented cucumber slice. My favourite was the classic egg mayonnaise, with the mozzarella and tomato coming a close second. The freshly baked scones came with chocolate praline but nothing beats the classic clotted cream and strawberry jam especially with the accompanying slice of strawberry. The citrus and raspberry mousse was my personal favourite balancing the sweet and tartness perfectly but chocolate lovers will go wild for the chocolate ganache handbag. The designer shortbread dress has a tangy lemon taste which is displayed on a pure chocolate, edible podium. Edible fashion it’s definitely our favourite sort of fashion.

What We Drank: Choose from a selection of Twinings loose leaf teas like the light and refreshing Apple and Elderflower Green Tea or upgrade to the Royal Afternoon Tea so you can enjoy a glass of Pommery Champagne.

Go With: Only the most fashionable fashionistas of course. Refuel after you’ve spent your morning rushing from show to show during LFW or if you’re like us, just from meeting to meeting, you might not have a seat on the FROW at the catwalks, but you will for this tea.

Final Word: A lot of attention to detail has gone into creating this tea not only the pretty, sweet section but right from the get go with the sandwiches. The intricate detail in the sweet section is something to marvel at though and even Lucy Choi said, “the ‘Corinthia’ dark chocolate shoe is so similar to the real shoe it is astounding.” Executive Chef Marshall has done well here, it’s a shame the tea isn’t around for longer!
