K West Hotel Spa Review – what we thought

New? It launched last year.

Where? K West Hotel & Spa, Richmond Way, London W14 OAX k-west.co.uk

On the menu: A selection of spa treatments including the Baobab Ritual which includes full body exfoliation, massage and energizing leg therapy with a scrub, essential oil and gel all made with Baobab extract.

First Impressions: K West Hotel is a trendy hotel full of modern amenities so I sat and relaxed in the spa reception with some citrus water before my treatment.
K-West SpaThe Treatment: Baobab is an African fruit (nicknamed the feel good fruit) which is an excellent source of vitamin C that also increases energy levels, decreases stress, and supports the immune system. It begins with a full body scrub down where the exfoliant is gently towel rubbed off before beginning the essential oil massage and finished with a brief energizing leg therapy. Afterwards my skin felt smooth and well-moisturised without feeling greasy and I was left with nice smelling limbs.

What We Drank: The ritual is completed with a fresh Baobab smoothie which is blended with fresh banana and was a surprisingly delicious and sweet ending to a relaxing treatment.

Go With: On your own for some self-indulgent pampering.
K WEST HOTEL SHEPHERDS BUSHFinal Word: For centuries people of Africa have turned to the Baobab tree as a source of natural wellbeing, to benefit their skin, hair and general health and it’s about time that it reached UK shores. Baobab has one of the highest antioxidant capacities of any fruit in the world and seems a perfect choice for a beauty treatment with a well-chosen finishing touch of the smoothie so you feel nourished inside and out. It’s always traumatising realising that your massage treatment is over but K West has a nice relaKs room where you can slowly pull yourself back to reality. The only thing I would say is that my whole body felt lovely and relaxed but my face felt a tad neglected, a quick 5 minute facial would have been the icing on the cake.

£2 from each Baobab treatment is donated to the Aduna Foundation, supporting African small scale producers.
