New? This was a one off supper club but keep your eye out for more happening!

Where?  170A Lavender Hill, Battersea, SW11 5TG ,www.socialpantry.co.uk

On the menu: Each supper club is different but this one had a spring feel to it, with lots of beautiful edible flowers, light flavours and floral notes.

First Impressions:  The great thing about supper clubs is that they can be exactly what you them to be, if you just want to talk to the people you know then you can, or if you want to make new friends then sitting next to someone at the table is an ideal way to do it. The Social Pantry supper club was just as the name suggested – social. Everyone was talking to everyone, discussing their favourite places to eat, latest food trends and when summer might finally arrive – it was a relaxed atmosphere and a friendly bunch.

The Look:  We all sat at one long table which was simply dressed with bunches of flowers. The café too is modest, grey walls, a large window flooding the area with light and simple white furniture.

What We Ate: Before we sat down we nibbled on honey’d goat’s cheese which topped rye crackers and were finished with deep purple flowers. To start was a thick pea and mint soup followed by a light crab salad. There was the most generous portion of spring lamb I’ve come across served with new potatoes, baby carrots and a simple salad of crunch green beans, chia seeds and tangy feta. An elderflower jelly topped with flowers gave us a refreshing break before a smooth, white chocolate panna cotta, chunks of crunchy honey comb and sweet strawberries. Canapes and five courses of well cooked food that was both decadent and homely at the same time and all for a fraction of what you’d pay in a restaurant.

What We Drank: A delicate Sipsmith summer cup

Go With: Supper clubs are perfect for those looking for delicious food in a relaxed, informal setting -also good if you’re on a date and not sure how it might go as you can always talk to the person next to you instead…

Final Word: Whilst you wait for the next supper club head to the Social Pantry Café which is open daily!
