A new all-day restaurant, ‘The Imperial’, has opened in Fulham, and we were bursting to try it out. So bright and early on Saturday morning, that’s just what we did. The lunch and dinner menus both look delicious, but we’re always on the look out for a new place in Fulham that does the perfect sleepy weekend breakfast/brunch, so that’s the meal we opted for.
This was the first Saturday that The Imperial had been open for breakfast, so it was fairly quiet, but that doesn’t reflect the quality of the food or service. The restaurant is very modern and open-plan, so diners can watch the chefs whip up their meal from scratch and enjoy the rustic, homely atmosphere at the same time.
We were immediately whisked to our table, and the waiters were very attentive with offering fruit juices, teas, coffees and so on. We opted for a full English breakfast and an egg white omelette with sourdough toast, although the brunch menu does have lots of lunch-y dishes too. The food came in good time and were clearly freshly cooked: the scrambled eggs were soft and fluffy and the toast hot and crunchy. It was all utterly delicious, and frankly I can’t wait to return. The only thing I was slightly disappointed by was the fruit juice: we had orange and apple, and the orange wasn’t freshly squeezed as I had expected given the price. But that’s a small detail that is hopefully easily fixed!
Overall, we thoroughly recommend The Imperial and are delighted that Fulham finally has a local restaurant that serves a good weekend brunch. We can’t wait to try out the lunch and dinner menus too, which look equally as delicious.
