When your partner announced they wanted to ‘spice things up’ they legit 100% meant this. Someone’s bought the bus from Spice World and turned it into an Airbnb and we couldn’t be more up for a trip to the 1990s. Pass me a Tamagotchi, slip on a crop top and a slap bracelet, we’re off to the Isle of Wight.
The Union Jacked double decker, driven by Meatloaf in the 1997 film, was arguably the star of a film somehow packed with incredible talent (the cast included Roger Moore, Richard Briars, Alan Cumming, Richard E Grant, Stephen Fry, Jennifer Saunders, Bob Geldof, Barry Humphries, Bob Hoskins and Huge Laurie) not to mention Scary, Baby, Sporty, Ginger and Posh. And now you can follow where the most famous quintet in the world led, by spending a night aboard.
The bus comes with all mod cons and amenities (with the minor omission of a bathroom or loo – however did Victoria Beckham manage this?) but is complete with a kitchenette with a sink, kettle and microwave, sleeping for three, Girl Power art, plus a retro CD player so you can rock out the girlband’s hits as you prepare your Cuppasoup to enjoy out on the decking outside your ride.
The bus comes with all mod cons and amenities...
Don’t panic about the loo thing either, there’s a block just feet outside with loos, shower and everything you and your bowels will possibly need for your stay.
Host Susanne Godley is a self-confessed Spice Girls fan, “My greatest love is the Spice Girls (after my children and partner of course). I adored their music growing up and used to choreograph routines to all my favourite songs! I watched Spice World on repeat and never thought I’d get the chance to go inside the actual Spice Bus – so to get this opportunity and now be able to share with other fans is just a dream come true”
I really really really wanna stay on a bus on the Isle of Wight...
The 1978 British Leyland Bristol VRTSL3 double-decker resides at Island Harbour Marina on the island’s River Medina, making it ideal for seeing the sights of this this perfect holiday destination.
And given the island has always felt like something of a time warp, it’s probably about 1997 there still, making this an ideal place to book a Spice Girls themed Airbnb.
I’ll tell you what I want, what I really really want, So tell me what you want, what you really really want, I wanna, I wanna, I really really really wanna stay on a bus on the Isle of Wight…
