Just found out your significant other has been cheating on you? We’re really sorry, but hey, how about letting out some anger with a round of axe throwing? Think of it as some whacky therapy and you can imagine you’re charging the axe at your ex’s torso rather than a wooden target.

Ok, perhaps we went a little too far there, but axe throwing really is a hoot. Whether you’ve got a good shot or not, it’s a great activity for a birthday bash, first date or somewhere to break up at…

Read on to find out where to go axe throwing in London.

Whistle Punks

Let’s go back to London’s beginning in the axe throwing world with Whistle Punks, the UK’s first urban axe throwing venue. Set up by longtime BFF’s John Nimmons and Jools Whitehorn, these guys transported the woodland pastime into an urban space where city dwellers can let out their anger at a wooden target.

To help you get to grips with the activity, they’ve got some axe-throwing experts on hand to help you perfect your aim and reach the target in one piece. Battle against your friends, colleagues or even head here for the first date to really mix things up a bit.

Bad Axe Throwing

BOXPARK Wembley is pulling out all of the stops, thanks to their VR venue and housing the world’s biggest urban axe throwing club.

Huge in the US and Canada, this is Bad Axe Throwing’s first UK venue. Book in for a bachelorette party or go it alone with their walk-in package and give it your best throw. For those who just can’t get enough, they also run leagues where you can compete with others, throw some axes and meet like minded people. Who knows you might become the next World Axe Throwing champion?

Bad Axe Throwing also has a venue over at BOXPARK Croydon too – bonus for the axe throwing lovers.

Forget heading to the countryside for axe throwing, Axeperience (great name) brings the adrenaline rush to the capital. Just a short walk from the Tower of London, the venue is hoards of fun. Expect neon painted targets, dim lighting and a whole lot of axe throwing.

Ready, Set, Throw...

East London dwellers, look to Hackney Wick’s Skeeters to get your axe throwing kicks. Smash the awkwardness of your first date by challenging your counterpart to a contest or let them take the reins while you wash down your nerves at the bar.

Whether you’re after 30 minutes of throwing or you fancy really releasing your anger out for 90 minutes, there’s a session for everyone. You can share a lane or even book one out entirely for you and your angry friends.

Where: Hamlet Industrial Estate, 96 White Post Lane, Hackney Wick, E9 5EN

Southern Pursuits

For an outdoor axe throwing experience, look to Southern Pursuits. Located a short drive out of the city, Crawley’s outdoor activity centre provides the perfect place to let loose and take part in some adrenaline inducing activities, including the aforementioned axe throwing.

Unlike the other axe throwing centres we’ve spoken about, this one is outdoors, meaning you can pretend you’re a lumberjack while carting your axe towards the target.

Where: Turners Hill Road, Crawley, West Sussex, RH10 4PE
