The Princess Diaries 3 Is Confirmed! Everything You Need To Know
Buckle up for a trip to Genovia because Disney is returning to the world of The Princess Diaries for a third fan-favourite film. The continuation of the Disney series, which will be written by Aadrita Mukerji and produced by Debra Martin Chase, was revealed this week. Fans have been waiting for nearly two decades to see the royal family of Genovia back on screens.
For those who are new to The Princess Diaries, the first two films focus on a shy American teenage girl, Mia Thermopolis, and her estranged grandmother, Clarisse, who is the Queen of Genovia. At 16 years old Mia learns that she is heir to the throne and must decide if she wants to inherit the title or reject her family history. With the help from her grandmother, she turns into a beautiful princess.
Anne Hathaway, who played the leading role of Mia Thermopolis in the first two films, has yet to confirm a contract for the third film. She has, however, publicly stated her support for a third film. Hathaway is not the only actress up for debate in the third film. Julie Andrews, who plays Queen Clarisse, has not been seen on film since 2017. Fans are dying to know if the iconic Queen of Genovia will be making an appearance and sharing her class and poise with the world. Time will tell.
The Princess Diaries is so much more than a series of Disney films. The first two movies were seen as an inspiration for young girls struggling with self-confidence. Watching a normal teenage girl turn into a regal, smart, and polished princess is incredibly empowering.
With the news of the third film being released so recently, there is no definitive release date. Fans will be impatiently waiting for more makeovers, mattress surfing, royal slumber parties, and life lessons from the Queen and Princess of Genovia.
