When Dolly Alderton’s Everything I Know About Love dropped in 2018, every 20 and 30-something woman raced down to their nearest bookstore to grab a copy. It offered light relief and an accurate representation of what growing up and navigating love often looks like, from steamy online dates to friendships and heartbreak. And now this best-selling memoir is about to hit our screens and we can’t wait to tune in.

Get ready for tear jerking moments, laughter and a whole lot of awkwardness, as the BBC adaptation is finally set to land on BBC One and iPlayer from 7th June.

What’s it about?

Based on Alderton’s memoir of the same name, this seven-part series is a semi-fictionalised adaptation that follows two best friends, Maggie and Birdy, and their growth from childhood friendship through to moving into their first London shared housing together and beyond. We’ll see their change from their sweet adolescence through to their raucous party heydays and the eventual friendship separation when one of them gets their first long-term boyfriend.

Spread throughout the series, expect the usual friendship quarrels, sleazy first dates, heartaches and laughter thrown in for good measure.

Who’s in it?

Out in just a matter of days, Alderton and the cast have been sharing shots from the series and the trailers. Emma Appleton, known for her roles in Pistol, Traitors and The Witcher, will be starring as Maggie, while Bel Powley, from Carrie Pilby and The Diary of a Teenage Girl, will be starring alongside her as Maggie’s bestie, Birdy.

Alongside them will also be Marli Siu playing their friend Nell, Jordan Peters as Neil, and up-and-coming stars, Aliyah Odoffin as Amara, Connor Finch as Street, and Ryan Brown as Nathan.

Who’s behind it?

China Moo-Young, the director behind selection episodes of Harlots, Thirteen, Call the Midwife and Intergalactic, will be at the helm of this series, helping to take Alderton’s much-loved memoir and pivoting it to fit seamlessly onto screen.

When and where can we watch it?

Everything I Know About Love lands on BBC One and iPlayer from 7th June.
