They may be one of fashion’s most divisive items but we can’t get enough of dungarees. Here are 20 of our favourites, from slouchy denim to soft cotton and retro corduroy…

For those of you not convinced, dungarees aren’t just for toddlers and pregnant women, they can be seriously flattering. Get the shape right and a good pair of dungarees possess leg-lengthening properties and a built-in bum lift, plus, they add a wonderfully nostalgic, retro feel to your look. They’re also a great way of getting more out of your wardrobe, from shopping off an oversized Ganni-esque collar to rebooting an old Breton.

This season they are back in force, with pairs popping up all over the high street and into high street collections. Top of our wish list are Isabel Marant’s Keisha pair in a lightweight linen and cotton-blend. With deep side panels and a flattering belt they have a dressier feel paired with heels and a broderie anglaise blouse. While Anna Mason’s £700 Bay dungarees are a serious investment but made to measure and a piece you will cherish in your wardrobe forever.

On to mid-market and if bespoke dungarees aren’t your thing, there are plenty of brands currently creating great quality pairs that will last for years to come. Mildred is a sustainable brand specialising in dungarees and dungarees alone, and their pairs are both comfortable and structured to give you a flattering finish. While knitwear brand Wyse ventured into the look with their Instagram hit scalloped-edge pair that have now gone into sale with plenty of sizes left – we love the moody forest shade in corduroy.

And on the high street, we love H&M’s mom-fit. Pair with a slouchy white tee and slides for an easy spring weekend look.

For a modern take on the trend we love H&M's slouchy mom-fit dungarees. Perfect paired with a slouchy white tee and slides this spring.
