Egg fried rice is an easy recipe to follow, right? As long as you follow the simple, but necessary, steps, you’ll have restaurant worthy eggy rice every time. Well, that’s not quite the case. If you’ve been following the BBC Food recipe pieced together by Hersha Patel, then you might as well not bother, because it’s been ridiculed all over the net by none other than Uncle Roger.

And if you’re a fan of Uncle Roger and his scrutinising ways, then you’ll be excited to hear that he’s getting his very own ramen filled pop-up this Autumn!

If you have absolutely no idea what we’re talking about, let us explain. Last year saw Malaysian comedian, Nigel Ng, bring to life a new online personality, Uncle Roger. It’s through this comedic persona that celebrity chefs the world over have been slammed for their rice cooking skills.

These hilarious videos have garnered quite the following, stacking up millions of views as Uncle Roger bashes the likes of Jamie Oliver and Nigella Lawson for their Asian cooking skills.

With a healthy 4.2million YouTube following, it was only about time Nigel Ng would transport his online persona into a London pop-up. To tie-in with him hitting 4million subscribers, he’s teamed up with Cardiff ramen makers, Matsudai Ramen to create an iekei-inspired ramen that London fans can soon try out for themselves.

Running 21st October – 20th November, the pop-up location is yet to be announced but Londoners can now reserve their place at the noodle pop-up here. It’s here they’ll be able to sample the rich pork and chicken bone soup, invented by Minora Yoshimura back in the 1970s. It’s typically abrim with thick noodles and topped with pork chashu, spinach and nori.

For those who can’t attend the pop-up, there’s still the chance to try out the ramen at home thanks to their diy kit. It’s filled with everything you need to make the ramen at home. We just hope that Uncle Roger will approve of your spin on the noodle favourite.

It’s yet to be determined where Uncle Roger will be making an appearance at the pop-up himself, but either way, we’re excited to try out a ramen that has his seal of approval.
