Tim and Kit Kemp, owners of Firmdale Hotels opened Covent Garden Hotel in 1996. The building, located in cobbled Monmouth Street, dates back to the 1890’s when it operated as a French hospital. It is situated in the heart of the theatre district and surrounded by interesting boutiques, restaurants, cafes and bars. The hotel’s interior has been designed by co-owner and Creative Director Kit Kemp, and reflects her fresh modern English style.

The ground floor is just like a stage set. A quietly bustling lobby leads into Brasserie Max, the hotel’s bar and restaurant. Up a sweeping stone staircase and into a sumptuous wood panelled drawing room and library, each with a log burning fireplace and vivid furniture and upholstery.

The 58 bedrooms and suites are characterised by dramatic oversized bed heads, bespoke furniture and specially designed lighting. The Loft Suite is set over two levels and the Terrace Suite has spectacular views overlooking London’s rooftops.

The Fortune and Lyric Rooms are located on the lower ground floor of the hotel. They connect via double doors and can easily become a luxuriously decorated drawing room, a corporate boardroom or a sumptuous private dining room. A 47 seat screening room is adjacent, in which the hotel runs a ‘Weekend Film Club’ with brunch and evening screenings of the latest film release.
