The Athenaeum Hotel & Residences

In the heart of Mayfair, The Athenaeum Hotel & Residences, one of London’s few family run five-star hotels, boasts a proudly independent personality. The bold new look, by leading British design agency Kinnersley Kent Design, perfectly expresses that spirit throughout, from its spectacular new architectural double storey lobby and lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows giving the impression of being in, rather than opposite, Green Park. Outside, the Terrace is one of the few outdoor dining areas on Piccadilly. Dine at 116 at The Athenaeum, a contemporary, British restaurant headed up by Executive Chef, Ian Howard. Relaxed yet chic interiors paired with inimitable service create a warm atmosphere. The inspiring, seasonal menus champion local producers and use only the very best ingredients.

3 things to try when you’re there
- Enjoy a drink in the bar
While away an evening cosied up in the bar with a tipple in hand. Glance around and you’ll notice small nooks, plush sofas and innumerable backlit display cabinets that show off The Athenaeum’s prized whisky collection, alongside an eclectic mix of collectables from around the world. An intimate setting with floor-to-ceiling windows that showcase the magnificent ‘Living Wall’, The Bar at The Athenaeum is a destination in its own right.
- Indulge in an afternoon tea
An afternoon tea is the epitome of quintessential British culture, and at The Athenaeum, guests can enjoy a delicious selection of fresh, homemade sandwiches, cakes, pastries and traditional scones with Tiptree strawberry jam and clotted cream. But it doesn’t stop there – also available are tasty vegan and vegetarian afternoon teas, a savoury afternoon tea, and an entire menu for guests following a gluten-free diet. No one will be left out!
- Experience a masterclass in The View
For whisky connoisseurs you won’t want to miss out on The Athenaeum’s newest offering – a whisky tasting experience in the tenth floor lounge, The View. Take in panoramic views of London, overlooking all the major sites, whilst delving into the hotel’s expansive whisky collection. Four unique whiskies from differing regions and countries will be sampled and a delicious cheese board will be served alongside the whiskies.
