The first full week back after a bank holiday weekend is always stretched out, difficult and leaves you wanting to uproot and quit you job. But you made it through and it’s finally the weekend!
This weekend you’ll find us getting our culture on at the Tate Modern’s virtual tours, hula hooping to get our workout in, partying with Ed Sheeran and finishing it off by dipping into BBC Three’s brand new series, Normal People.
Right now I’d love to be spending my time wandering from room to room at Tate Modern’s huge Andy Warhol exhibition, but until our beloved museums and galleries reopen, you can find me gazing in awe at the retrospective from my sofa.
Forget your preconceptions of what you think Warhol’s work looks like and explore items that’s never been seen before in the UK, including 25 creations from his Ladies and Gentlemen series. Expect to be amazed as you delve deep into Warhol’s immigration story, LGBTQI identity and striking body of work.
Stuck in the same four meal rut? We’ve enlisted the help of our favourite London chefs to bring you innovative, yet easy springtime meals that’ll be sure to keep you busy in the kitchen. From tasty sea bass and pancetta risottos to foolproof chocolate brownies, here’s 12 dishes to get stuck into this weekend.
Tired of the same old fitness routine? I’m sure that’s something we can all agree on right now, but here to help you change up your lockdown fitness regime is HulaFit with their all-body hula hooping workouts. These 45 minute online sessions are great for those already confident with a hula hoop around their waist and want to get their cardio workout on whilst toning up too. Trust me, you’re in for a real hula hooping treat here.
When: Check Online Schedule For A Class That Suits You
Grab yourself some popcorn or a mini tub of overpriced ice cream and watch your favourite theatre performance come to life on your screen. From beloved Shakespearean classics to unsung heroes, here’s eight of our favourites to watch while we’re inside.
Gather round as you join Kindred’s latest addition of Live! In Your Living Room. This Friday you’re invited to join as the team, members and special guests open up and share their poems, music, songs and audio creativity. It’s a lovely way to support and help stimulate creativity within yourself and your community.
When: Friday 24th April, 7:30pm
Music is not cancelled. I repeat, music is not cancelled.
With music festivals around the world cancelled for the foreseeable future, many musicians have headed to the web to live stream and take part in the virtual festivals that have been popping up. This weekend sees the biggest one to date arriving and you’re invited. For 72 hours straight you’ll be singing along to your favourite artists at one of their tour shows including Panic! At The Disco’s O2 Arena tour back in 2019.
This weekend you can expect to be dancing at the front row of artists including Ed Sheeran, Cardi-B, Bruno Mars, Coldplay and Paramore. Pull out your glam rags, buckle up your stomping boots and party it up in your living room, tinny in tow (it is a festival after all).
When: Friday 24th – Sunday 26th April
The novel that stole the hearts of many last summer has been brought to life and you’re invited.
This Sunday see Marianne and Connell from Sally Rooney’s Normal People novel come to life and fall slowly and everlastingly in love in this coming of age story. Expect to follow a bond that was never destined to work, sprung out of teenage angst and loneliness, formed into a friendship and love affair that can be picked up no way how long they’ve been apart.
Fans have long awaited the release of Other Lives fourth-studio album and the day has finally arrived.
For Their Love is filled with 37 minutes of hearty, indie folk-rock that’s layered with cinematic flare and emotional lyrics. This is an album that wants to be heard and remembered for its ensemble of instruments, and their music video for Lost Day will make you wish you were a fly on the wall in their mountain cabin studio.
