Say what? When Kelis was bringing all the boys to her yard I’m not sure it was with a French fry flavoured milkshake. I’m not sure it was with a milkshake at all, to be honest, but that’s another story for another time.
But if a salty, potato-infused milk drink has your name written all over it, then this weekend you are in for a treat as Londoners can try the world’s first (so we’re told) French fry-flavoured milkshake.
If a salty, potato-infused milk drink has your name written all over it, then this weekend you are in for a treat.
Taking inspiration from the food combo of dipping McDonald’s fries into an ice cold milkshake – a culinary delight I spent much of my teenage days doing – the shake will be available to try this Saturday 31st July at the E20 Street Food Market in Hackney’s Olympic Park.
And the salty-sweet concoction hasn’t cut corners when it comes to packing that authentic chip-meets-milk flavour into a glass, the brains behind the shake have found a way to use real potatoes in the recipe. Sound gross? We have it on good authority that it is in fact delicious. Made with a curious combination of vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, cream, a dash of salt and potatoes (obvs), the shake comes with a side of chocolate-coated French fries for dipping. The best bit? East Villages will be giving away 250 free milkshakes throughout the day if you fancy trying one for yourself.
For those not tempted by a chip milkshake, there are plenty more more orthodox food and beverage choices to be had, from Sri Lankan hoppers to Thai curries, Swedish cinnamon buns to NY-style bagels. Plus there will be live music and lawn games to keep you entertained too.
