What to do This Weekend 19th – 21st January
The weekend is almost here and it’s going to be filled with brunch, Creme Eggs, workouts and seeing London in a completely new way. January, it’s not so bad after all.
Lumiere London Festival
London Lights Up
London is lighting up, to make the dark January nights that little bit brighter and to banish those blues. Over 50 artworks by UK and international artists will be transforming the streets into an immersive experience of light and sound. Head to Ganton Street, Carnaby to view 51 oversized rainbow light bulbs suspended from the sky or go to The Royal Academy of Arts in Piccadilly to view Love, an animation of two intricately paper-cut figures who will dance across the building’s façade. Perfect if you’ve got a date this weekend.

German Gymnasium
Retro Fitness
As part of D & D’s Mindful City campaign, German Gymnasium are hosting a retro-bootcamp with MW5 Fitness’ Martin Whitelock. The hour- long session will mix modern fitness drills with old fashioned exercise equipment for a high intensity interval work out. Afterwards you’ll be rewarded with a smoothie shot, 20% off the brunch menu at the Grand Café and the smug feeling of knowing you started your Sunday with a workout.
Sunday 21st January

Hawkes Cidery & Taproom
Wassailing
If you think we drink a lot now, back in the Medieval times, pagans would celebrate Wassail, a ritual that would awaken the cider tree gods and promote a good harvest. Hawkes Cidery & Taproom isn’t expecting you to dance around a tree, they just want you to drink their Wassail Punch, get drinking their cracking craft cider and dance to the DJs rather than the cider gods. Sounds good to us.
Saturday 20th January

Chocolate Pop Up
Our prayers have been answered, there is a Creme Egg pop-up coming to London and it’s last for five weeks! You’ll have the chance to eat Creme Egg cakes, cookies, toasties and their version of fondue, fongoo. Now is the time to say goodbye to your New Year’s resolution of not eating chocolate.
