’90s Heels Are Making A Comeback
It’s the decade that keeps on giving. We’ve had slip dresses and Y2K handbags and now our shoes are taking a trip down memory lane. Prepare yourself for the return of clogs, platform flip flops and, of course, mules. If you’re after an amped-up sandal, the latter will be your footwear of choice. Thankfully we’ve curated our favourites for you to team with your summer wardrobe.
As soon as we spotted them on the Spring/Summer catwalks, we mentally added them to our wardrobes. Mules may be souvenirs from the ‘90s, but they’ve had a serious update from today’s designers. Gianvito Rossi went for styles in neon shades, while Jacquemus served up sleek minimalist iterations in smooth cream leather.
There’s no question these easy heels offer up an alternative to holiday sandals. They’re easy slip-ons, but with added height to up the glam factor. However, if you’ve no exotic vacations on the radar, then think about adding them to your workwear arsenal. They’re chic and lend themselves to tailored looks, even city shorts as those days get warmer. For weekend outfits, consider pairing with a denim maxi – how very ‘90s.
To be honest, we’re spoilt for choice on the high street. & Other Stories has a great selection of mules with quirky twists, namely the rather fabulous Mother of Pearl covered mules, while Mango has gone for brights and a sprinkling of rhinestones. All we need now is for the weather to brighten up to let these heels kickstart our summer season.
