When it comes to festivals, England is up there as one of the best places, actually no we may be bias but we’re going to say we have the best festivals. And we’re not just talking music, oh no England and London in particular has some pretty impressive food festivals. From fancy dress and urban cocktails to serious helpings of meat, here are 5 of the best London food festivals.

Taste of London

Five day feast

Set a reminder in your phone calendar for the social food event of the year that promises to be the biggest and best yet. This five-day feast really takes it up a notch when it comes to the celebration of food and drink. With over 40 world-class chefs and restaurants taking part you can get involved with interactive masterclasses, watch celebrity chefs in live demonstrations or taste signature dishes from London’s hottest restaurants. This year the event will embrace its ‘Flavour’s of the World’ theme, showcasing all the flavour’s that make up our impressive restaurant scene. While tantalising your tastebuds you can enjoy sounds from the live bandstand, or for a unique experience head to Mortimer’s Orchard Cider Bar where you can dance in the sunshine at the silent disco with a cold glass of cider…what could be better?

Urban Food Festival

Food and fancy dress

Car park by day, social eating by night this impressive space is transformed into a foodie’s idea of heaven allowing you to experience a variety of cultures with an abundance of gourmet street food. Unwind in what’s left of the basking sun while sampling their craft beer and cider, or stay well into the evening to watch the twinkling stars with a specialised urban cocktail. With live entertainment from up and coming bands you can even dance it all off if you over indulge… that should be when not if. If you love an excuse to dress then rock up in the theme’s fancy dress on certain nights and grab yourself a free drink. Fun, free and a big emoji thumbs up from us.

Foodies Festival

Signature dishes and cakes made by the best

Ever wanted to make a ‘stunning red wine jus’ that would wipe even the smirk from Gregg Wallace’s chops? Well here you can take fine dining home with you as you watch Michelin star chefs demonstrate your favorite food from the city’s top restaurants. Try culinary treats by top chef’s in the ‘Chef’s Theatre’, wine and dine with friends in the ‘Feasting Tent’ or get your bake on in the ‘Tasting Theatre.An exciting addition this year is the Vintage Tea Tent that holds daily tea dances, where you can show off your ‘tip me up and pour me out’ little number. With a live music stage and BBQ arena too, this social hub is an amazing place to be with or without a passion for food.

Cookbook Confidential

The festival for aspiring chefs

For all you gastronomes out there, budding chefs or aspiring ones this exclusive one-day festival is the one for you. Get in before the masses and learn from the best with featured discussions, classes and demonstration’s by the likes of Jane Baxter, Marco Pierre White and Gizzi Erskine. Other events range from wine tasting, cocktail masterclasses, sessions on how to write a cookbook and our personal favourite; ‘How to make your food look good on Instagram.’ We all want more likes on our dinner pics right? The full festival line up hasn’t even been announced yet so watch this space for more exciting details.

Meatopia

Carniverous offerings

This is for all you hardcore carnivores out there, where you’re sure to be engulfed in a heavenly cloud of ‘meat smoke.’ Originally from the states, this festival incorporates a variety of food backgrounds from America, Asia and Europe. All meat is ‘native and rare, naturally raised and ethnically sourced’ and cooked over a live fire right before your hungry eyes. Wash it all down with the best of artisan ales and fine wines, which are all specifically chosen to complement the food. There are also live bands, butchery demos, informal workshops and astonishing street theatre to feast your eyes on.
