If you’ve just packed your kids at school you’re possibly dreading the fact they’re going to boomerang back into your daytime this weekend. But fear not, there’s plenty to be doing.

Arepa & Co

Arepa arepa!

Guys, guys! It’s world World Arepa Day! World what day? Arepa! What are arepas? Guys, you’re not getting into this… So arepas are basically somewhere between sandwiches and tacos from South America (I’m so going to be getting emails correcting me here) and this Saturday it’s going to be World Arepa Day! And where better (other than actual South America) to celebrate than at Arepa & Co in Bethnal Green. The Venezuelan restaurant will be celebrating ‘El Día Mundial de la Arepa’ £1 arepas, plus a lorra lorra Latin cocktails all night long.

Hotel Café Royal

A blast from the past

As my father always says: ‘The old ones are always the best’, and this really does apply in the case of the Green Bar at Hotel Café Royal who have dug up their Café Royal Cocktail Book of 1937. Apparently something of a bible among bartenders, they’ve built a new menu around their historic menu, which goes back through the ages for a century’s ride through cocktails from the early twentieth century to the present day.
The menu is available now!

Where: 68 Regent Street, Piccadilly, W1B 4DY
Nearest station: Piccadilly Circus (0.1 miles)

Bun House

Bun House, a whole lot of bun...

One for the week ahead… You know Mooncups? Well this is nothing like that. Don’t think of Mooncups. Put them right out of your head. We’re talking mooncakes. Mooncakes are traditional Chinese round pastries and Bun House will be celebrating harvest by recreating c0-founder Z’s childhood with a two-night late night ‘mid-autumn’ (hey, I’m still claiming it’s summer here) mooncake party while dolling out the sweet pastries which will be filled with either lotus blossom paste, or Bun House’s signature custard.
Available from Thursday 13th September

Where: 24 Greek Street, Soho, W1D 4DZ

Barrio Brixton

Welcome to healthy boozing

If you thought your local bar was your last escape from the world of fitness, think again. Barrio Brixton have teamed up with House of Voga, but there’s a difference. It’s yoga but also with the added boozy-ness of Barrio’s Latino-inspired bottomless brunch. The event, this Saturday, will involve 80s Latino vibes, amazing food and cocktails but with a bit of yoga-ing thrown in. This could be the most genius ploy to get me into being healthy that I’ve ever seen.

The Middle East restaurant have unveiled their new Mezze Brunch, which will include live music, bottomless Bellinis plus an array of contemporary Middle Eastern breakfast and brunch favourites. It’s a vibrant start to any Saturday and specifically this one as it launches this weekend.
